The Pittsburgh hard rockers icons of Chip & The Charge Ups have released their four-awaited studio album, "What Happened to the boy next door?" (2023), via Before and After Music Group, and it is the successor of their previously acclaimed studio albums Lightning in Our Veins (2020), Flow of the Current, Part II (2019), and Flow of the Current Part I (2018).
The first single is "Paying Back The Devil," a hard rock song created with the velocity of punk rock and heavy killer riffs into a fresh atmosphere with enough energy to send a train to another planet. Maybe this is why this song was voted "Best Song" in the Pittsburgh Music Award on 2022.
What happened to the boy next door? I don't know! But one thing I know is that It is an album that doesn't know borders, limits, or any sign that stops or drains energy or creativity. So now I understand why Chip Domenik, singer of the band, said, "All of the subgenres in the music industry in general - and rock music in particular - only serve to divide people who actually should be able to identify with each other quite well."
This album is like an open highway where you can drive a high-speed Hot Road without brakes. You can find unique rock music styles like hard rock, metal, classic punk rock, emo, and Alternative rock, all different but together and in harmony like a rock family should be. So if you like Metallica, Ac/Dc, Green Day, Blink 182, Turbonegro, Weezer and many more rock subgenres, this is for you and me.
Formed in 2018 by the unique family team of Chip Dominick & then 16-year-old Maleena Dominick, Pittsburgh's Chip & The Charge Ups quickly created an electrifying buzz. The band has performed at prominent music festivals and opened for national acts, including Dirty Honey, Dee Snider, Nita Strauss, and Liliac.
9/10
